Kathy Carrick

Accounting

Kathy’s passion for the design and custom home industry along with her love for accounting made her decision to join the Tongue & Groove team an easy one. After graduating with a business degree from UNCW, Kathy moved to Raleigh and worked as an accountant and office manager in both the architecture and real estate investment industries for over fifteen years. She has always had a strong desire to be involved in the design and construction process and has been through it first hand on several of her own homes. She knows the joys as well as the challenges of building a custom home and keeping a project within budget. She loves being a part of making someone’s dream home a reality. Her attention to detail and desire for high customer satisfaction is a great match with her position. So glad to be back at the coast, on weekends Kathy enjoys spending time with her family shell hunting on the beach.

Annie Harrell

Architectural + Interior Design

Annie, a Wilmington native, graduated from CFCC in 2015 with both an A.A.S in Architecture and Interior Design. She is creative with a keen attention to detail, obsession with quality, love for architectural details, and the belief that great designs begin with understanding a client’s needs and expectations. Prior to joining the Tongue and Groove team in August of 2017, she began her career in Charlotte, NC at a renowned architecture firm, where she gained valuable knowledge and experience in high-end custom residential design and renovations. Also during this time, she partnered as a key designer in numerous commercial projects in various states throughout the U.S. While her interests are in all aspects of architecture and interior design, her passion and inspiration lie in designing the interior of a project and bringing reality to a client’s dreams. In her spare time, Annie enjoys spending time with her family, as well as planning exciting travels for new experiences and inspiration. She hopes to work toward earning her NCIDQ license in the future.

Maggie Love Pinson

Sales Manager

Maggie was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina. She moved to Los Angeles, CA, for design school at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising to study Merchandise Product Development in 2008. In addition to her academic history in design, she has also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from UNCG. As someone who loves to absorb new knowledge and education, Maggie has continued to learn on the job about home sales, marketing, design and more.

Between design school and getting a Bachelor’s Degree, Maggie has gained vast sales and marketing experience that she has utilized in her professional endeavors. Previously, as a design coordinator with home staging expertise and background, she also learned a lot about the local real estate and construction market, giving her the drive to be closer in touch with buyers during their home buying and building adventures. Maggie strives to create a friendly and exciting experience for everyone that walks through our doors. Having the opportunity to work with our clients and local real estate professionals to build thriving relationships, is what makes her most eager to come in to work every day.

When Maggie is not working with clients and our community, she is relaxing at home in mid-town Wilmington or enjoying the beach with her daughter, Lou, and husband, Will.

Mitch Hug

Project Supervisor

Mitch grew up in a small town in east central, Indiana and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia shortly after high school where he began a career in music. Continuing to pursue his passion, he started a family and took many more opportunities across the country. Along his journey, he decided to broaden his creativity and craftsmanship into the custom construction field. It all began with the position at a custom cabinet and mill shop in Philadelphia which triggered his new passion and curiosity to learn more. Mitch spent 8 years learning all aspects of cabinet making and finishes before he started working as a remodeling carpenter for the next 3 years. In Fall of 2016 he took the opportunity to move to Wilmington, NC and join the team at Tongue & Groove where he has been successfully managing not only projects, but also client relationships.

Bill Giffin

Project Supervisor

Bill Giffin started full time for his grandfathers custom home building company, Percy DaMant Inc., in Palo Alto, CA. The company was Union and required completing a 4 year Carpenter apprenticeship program with the Carpenters Union. He worked for his grandfather for 16 years. Bill had worked on many styles of custom homes in the Bay Area, CA., Woodside, Palo Alto, Atherton and Portola Valley, mostly in the 4,000 to 5,000 sf homes and a few commercial buildings.

Bill moved on to a several other companies doing the same type of work and then started with Peninsula Custom Homes Inc. Foster City, CA., as a Lead Carpenter working on Charles Schwab’s home in Atherton, California. A year later he was promoted to Superintendent running multi million dollar projects from 1000 square foot French formal pool houses in Burlingame, CA to 14 thousand square foot projects in Los Altos Hills , CA with multiple buildings and underground wine cave.

Nine years later Bill ventured out on his own as a licensed Contractor and started “Four Generations Custom Homes Inc”. His first project was demolishing a 5,000 SF home and building a guest house, pool house, four car garage with swimming pool, tennis court on a large estate in Atherton, California. Moving on to build a 4,000 SF home in Woodside, California, followed with a 1,000 SF pool house also in Woodside. Bill moved on to work commercial construction with Herman Christensen and Sons, as a construction Project Manager over seeing all the commercial and residential properties, roofs, paving, remodeling, utilities and up grades. The properties included 1,000 apartments at six locations and over four million square feet of commercial office and business spaces at a dozen locations.

After three years, Bill moved on to a Superintendent position for Drew Maran Construction, Palo Alto, CA. to oversee a two year project for a Facebook VP to build a 6,000 SF Leeds Silver sustainable custom home on a hill side in San Mateo, California. When this project was completed he then relocated with his wife to Carolina Beach, NC. In his search for high quality, custom, upscale building he pursued a position as Superintendant with Tongue and Groove in March 2017.

Rachael Ward

Marketing Manager

Rachael began her journey with T&G through the opportunity of an internship in 2015 during her Junior year at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. During this time, she was trained with a variety of responsibilities as she became accustomed to the functions of the business and began concentrating in Sales and Marketing. After graduating in May of 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing and a minor in Spanish, she began a full-time position at T&G as the Sales & Marketing Director. Always interested in learning more, she applied for the 2017 NAHB Young Professional Scholarship Program and was one of 22 selected recipients, with over 100 submitted applications!

She is now a remote member of T&G - channeling her creativity and upbeat personality through strategic promotion and design - as she pursues her passion for travel and adventure. Grateful to have the opportunity to stay a part of the family, she continues to stay connected to the team, projects and mission!

Stephanie Schauer

Operations Manager

After living in Wisconsin for most of her life, Stephanie decided it was time for a change in scenery and packed up her things to move south to the coast of Wilmington, NC with her daughter and many beloved animals. She has over 7 years of experience in the construction and management arena, having successfully managed a flooring store in Wisconsin and a local Wilmington studio prior to managing operations at T&G. Stephanie‘s primary goal is to provide the optimal support to her clients and team members in order to create satisfaction and success through our Mission. When managing to have free time on her hands, she spends it exploring new places, helping others and always finding ways to leave things better than she found them.

Bridgett Mazer

Interior Designer

Bridgett brings her creative and nationally award winning design expertise to Tongue & Groove, guiding our clients through making selections for their project. She brings inspiration and life to a space through timeless design, modern concepts and immaculate details. Her design philosophy fits in perfectly with the T&G team, as she promises to never compromise details or lifestyle when bringing concepts to life through quality and thoughtful selection choices.

With over 14 years as an interior design expert, Bridgett boasts an Interior Design Associate Degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from UNCW in Education with a Minor in Psychology. She is a member of ASID and CCASID and represents over 100 furniture, lighting, window treatments and accessory lines - equivalent to the same buying power as a retail store. Bridgett has been the head designer for several homeowners, communities and clubhouses.

Clubhouse designs: Eagle Point Golf Club, Waterford of The Carolina’s, and Palmetto Creek and The Arbors.

Notable Publication Features: Ocean Home Magazine, Cape Fear Living Magazine, Wrightsville Beach Magazine, and Landfall Living.

Wilmington native, Mark Batson, studied at UNCW. He earned his BA in History, which is the study of the past and how it relates to people. Relating to people is what the business of custom home building is all about. Mark applies lessons from his past experiences and intuitively guides his clients through the design/build process to create something special. He sees his purpose being to help families imagine how their lives could be, actualized into real environments, improving their lives through better living. Winner of multiple awards and recognition, including 2018 NAHB Custom Home Builder of the Year Award Finalist, Mark has found that cultivating long-term relationships with both clients and colleagues is the true reward.

As leader, Mark’s role is to instill a sensibility about how things should be done. He believes in having a warrior’s spirit, a servant’s heart, and a fun loving atmosphere. His promise to the client is to never compromise quality or coolness.

Mark lives in Wrightsville Beach with his family of five, where his young children keep him busy. Occasionally, he’ll get opportunities for fun, like flying, surfing, spearfishing and other watersports. Overall he wants to leave a legacy that has a positive impact on himself, his family, and his community.
