“We challenge the status quo by building homes that are beautifully designed, thoughtfully constructed and simple to live in.” – Mark Batson
Founded in 2001, Tongue & Groove Design+Build was built on a foundation of vision and beliefs. Created with uncompromising standards and an agenda that included protecting a client’s financial investment, Tongue & Groove set out to build beautiful homes of the highest quality while delivering superior customer care. We imagine with you, build for you, so you can live life without regrets. As the company grows and expands, these beliefs remain the same. We believe in the warrior’s spirit and servant’s heart while maintaining a fun-loving attitude. Our entire T&G team—from project managers, to designers, to carpenters—are hired with this philosophy top of mind.
We brought together a team of industry professionals, committed to a culture of honesty and integrity, innovation, proactive and transparent communication and simply doing what we say we will do. This allows our clients to bring to the table all of their thoughts and requirements for their home and our team will offer guidance, recommendations, technical expertise and directions on how we can bring their ideas to reality.
Our office location is especially suited for our use as a full-service design + build firm. It houses our administrative and design staff and design center. The site and structure were developed thoughtfully by Nick Garrett in 1999, who was, at the time, the most esteemed custom builder in the area. The building itself is residential in construction, featuring a stone foundation, timber brackets, cedar shingle siding and roofing, copper gutters, and rain chains. The interiors are just as domestic, with shell stone pavers, knotty cypress paneling, and heart of pine trim – all indigenous coastal NC building materials. Our team is continuing the legacy of this iconic space by creating award-winning home designs and delivering the highest level of service to our clientele.
