Project:

INLET VIEW

Inlet View was designed as a layered coastal retreat, drawing inspiration from classic shingle-style architecture while reinterpreting it through a modern, highly livable lens. The clients envisioned a home rich in dimension and character, favoring a distinctive footprint that unfolds gradually rather than revealing itself all at once. Architectural elements such as varied gables, vertical emphasis, textured materials, and carefully framed windows were important in creating a sense of craftsmanship and visual richness.

A pass-through walkway connects the front courtyard to the rear of the home, establishing a sense of procession and discovery upon arrival. Varied rooflines, vaulted ceilings, and exposed beams introduce volume and movement throughout, while expansive windows anchor the home to its waterfront setting and flood the interiors with natural light.

The main living spaces were intentionally designed without a formal dining room, allowing for an open, gathering-focused layout centered around a spacious and airy kitchen. Behind the kitchen is a practical scullery that leads out on to the second-level covered porch. Beyond the large island and breakfast bar, a large dining table sits comfortably alongside a built-in bar and banquet, encouraging easy entertaining. Views of the Intracoastal flood this main space with natural light and warmth.

The living spaces at Inlet View were designed to support both everyday life and effortless entertaining, with an emphasis on openness, light, and connection. Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams create volume and yet maintain warmth and coziness, while expansive windows draw the surrounding water and landscape deep into the home.

The plan balances shared and private spaces with intention: a private study is positioned to capture water views, and a home management area is discreetly located near the kitchen for day-to-day functionality.

The primary suite opens to a private porch overlooking the water, offering a quiet retreat that feels both elevated and connected to the landscape.

Inlet View reflects a thoughtful blend of tradition and innovation, an architectural composition defined by depth, craftsmanship, and a strong relationship to place, resulting in a home that feels timeless, personal, and distinctly coastal.
