Project:
Project Spectre is a 3,700 SF residence nestled along Howe Creek on the eastern edge of Wilmington, North Carolina. This home is a true showstopper, boasting modern barnhouse style and exceptional design. Our clients sought a classic beach house-style sanctuary, and ultimately embraced a more contemporary style that would serve as their forever home.
Complete with a dock and pool, the outdoor amenities complement the spacious interior perfectly. Featuring an open living concept and a 3-car garage, Project Spectre is the epitome of contemporary elegance in harmony with its natural environment.
Set above the natural grade, the pool and spa follow the land’s slope toward the marsh, minimizing excavation near the creek’s edge. The outdoor living area offers a protected gathering space around a firepit, where the natural soundscape — birds, frogs, and rustling reeds — enhances the sense of retreat and tranquility.
Inside, the palette is rooted in natural tones and textures. White oak beams and tongue-and-groove planking float above the main living space, framing southeastern views toward Howe Creek. Custom cabinetry features slim shaker panels and pale stone countertops that complement the serene aesthetic. High transom windows and expansive glass bring in daylight, while warm, layered lighting creates a calming atmosphere after dusk.
